Homework will be assigned periodically throughout the year. Students will have an opportunity to begin (and maybe even finish!) homework during class.

- Explain early colonization of North America and reasons (landforms, clinmate, geographic features) for settlement in the New England, Middle and Southern colonies
- Recognize how colonial development was influenced by the desire for religious freedom.
- Identify influential leaders in colonial society
- Describe emerging colonial government--Mayflower Compact, representative government, town meetings, rule of law
- Describe colonial economic life and labor systems in the Americas (slave trade, Triangular Trade Route)
- Determine causes and events (French and Indian War, Stamp Act, Intolerable Acts, Boston Massacre and Boston Tea Party) leading up to the American Revolution.
